Favorite Bon Jovi Songs

In response to my father's post on the same topic earlier this month, I have undertaken the task of determining my favorite songs by Bon Jovi. In doing so, I discovered several Bon Jovi songs I had never heard before, many of which I liked. Even so, I refrained from compiling a list of my favorite 50 songs. I originally intended to post 10, but eventually settled somewhere in the middle. 27 seemed to be about the right number, as that amounts to one song for each year since the band's formation. So, here are my 27 favorite Bon Jovi songs, in order of favoritism, which changes slightly from day to day, or even hour to hour:

1. Walk Like A Man
2. Happy Now
3. Diamond Ring
4. Wanted Dead Or Alive
5. Make A Memory
6. Last Man Standing
7. Learn To Love
8. Seat Next To You
9. Bells Of Freedom
10. You Give Love A Bad Name

11. Bullet
12. This Ain't A Love Song
13. Thorn In My Side
14. Wildflower
15. Whole Lot Of Leavin'
16. When We Were Beautiful
17. Blaze Of Glory
18. Bed Of Roses
19. Any Other Day
20. Livin' On A Prayer

21. Superman Tonight
22. In These Arms
23. Work For The Workin' Man
24. (It's Hard) Letting You Go
25. She's A Mystery
26. Something For The Pain
27. Stick To Your Guns

Well, there you have it. I still plan to make lists for Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and U2, but those will probably take a little more time. If anyone reading this hasn't heard the songs I listed, I strongly suggest looking them up on Grooveshark.com, Youtube.com, or some other music website. They are definitely well worth listening to!

Nice list, Zach. I'm intrigued by how different your choices are from my own. I suspect that reflects as much the difference in our ages as it does any differences in our musical tastes. Well done.

I think that it probably does have to do with both of those things. There is also a good deal of crossover, though, which I think is partly due to the fact that some Bon Jovi songs are just undeniably awesome, and partly due to the fact that your musical tastes as I was growing up remain probably the biggest influence on my own!

One thing I noticed in particular was that I don't think you had any songs from the album These Days on your list, and I don't know that I had ever heard any of the songs from the CD more than once before (with the possible exception of This Ain't A Love Song). Since I discovered that album a couple weeks ago, however, it has become one of my favorites--probably in my top 3 or at least 4. I wonder if it is not represented on your list because you simply don't care for it, or perhaps because you haven't listened to it as much before. Not every song on it is great, but I think there are several that are really great (as you could probably tell from my list).

You could probably also tell from my list that the Circle is easily my favorite album overall. I think there are at least twice as many songs from that album as from any other on my list, and I was also quite close to giving "Happy Now" the top spot. It's clear to me that the guys in Bon Jovi have a lot of talent and can make a lot of fairly different styles of Rock and Roll music excellently. With The Circle, I think they came the closest, and most consistent, to a sound that I really love. Needless to say, I'm quite grateful for that Christmas present! :-)
